Todays circle of sharing was really powerful!
80% Kids confessed they had tobacco and used abusive language. What made us more happy was the fact that they promised openly in front of all their frens that they would give up this habit :)
Our first story telling session:
It was sad to know that just one or two kids could read hindi out of 27 kids - 2nd std to 8th std. Praveen our 8th grade kid could hardly read hindi!Meena - 6th grade, prakash - 6th grade and govind - 6th grade could read hindi that too with help from mentor!
So the idea was the elder bunch would read the story out loud and after each line the younger lot would tell us if they understood . to our surprise the elders understood , for younger bunch it was still difficult!
We picked up akbar birbal story and all the kids did understand the moral of the story , it took a lot of time though.
Sandeep bhaiya and Rama didi from MAM Movies had visited our project ,they explained them the concept of film making and would be teaching the kids how to make a movie using simplest of cameras!
The kids were damn xcited!
